About Me

Hello, and welcome to my Substack. I’m Brian Miller—a Simon & Schuster author, professor, and storyteller dedicated to inspiring others to discover their faith, purpose, and potential.

My life’s work revolves around creating tools that help people navigate their journeys with clarity and hope. Through devotionals and inspirational books, I aim to connect deeply with readers, offering encouragement and actionable insights that help them achieve their goals, overcome challenges, and live with intention.

A Journey of Faith, Creativity, and Recovery

Writing has been a consistent thread in my life, but my story is one of transformation. In May 2022, I made the life-changing decision to embrace sobriety—a step that not only reshaped my personal life but also deepened my understanding of grace, resilience, and faith. This journey inspired my book, None for Me, a 40-day devotional for individuals seeking to get and stay sober. Through this work, I share lessons learned, faith-based guidance, and practical tools to navigate the challenges and joys of sobriety.

Sobriety has been more than an achievement—it’s been a testament to the power of faith and the beauty of second chances. My hope is to inspire others to take their own first steps, knowing they’re not alone.

What You’ll Find Here

On this Substack, I extend the message of my books through exclusive newsletters designed to offer deeper insights, new perspectives, and practical encouragement. Each post is a reflection of my ongoing journey as a creator and believer, blending faith, creativity, and real-world experience. You’ll find content that touches on themes of:

Creativity and Calling: Inspired by my book Called to Make, which explores how faith and creativity intersect.

Sobriety and Resilience: Exclusive reflections tied to None for Me, helping readers on their sober journey.

Fatherhood and Legacy: Stories and insights related to my role as a husband, father, and mentor.

Teaching and Growth: Lessons from my role as an adjunct professor at Sacred Heart University, where I teach design and creativity to the next generation.

This space is a continuation of my books, offering more personal stories, deeper dives into the themes I write about, and exclusive tools to help you live a life of purpose and faith.

A Verse That Guides My Work

“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”
– Ephesians 2:10

This verse has shaped not only my career but also my approach to life. It’s a reminder that each of us is called to create, to build, and to contribute to something greater—whether it’s through writing, teaching, fatherhood, or simply walking in faith.

A Life Rooted in Connection

When I’m not writing, teaching, or sharing my story, you’ll find me at home in a 1744 barn in Wilton, Connecticut, where I live with my wife, two daughters, and six cats. It’s in this historic space that I find inspiration and the grounding to keep creating.

Thank you for being here. Whether you’re a maker, a seeker, or someone in need of encouragement, I hope this space feels like home—a place where you can grow, reflect, and discover your own unique purpose.
