Privacy Policy

This site, brianmiller.org, is run by Brian D. Miller. This page explains what information the site collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. The short version: I don’t sell your data, I don’t run a mailing list from this site, and the only information collected is the standard analytics most websites use.
What this site collects
Analytics. I use Google Analytics to understand how people find and use the site, which pages get read, and whether everything is working. This is collected through cookies and includes things like the pages you visit, a rough location (city or region, not your exact whereabouts), your device and browser type, and how you arrived. It is aggregate and is not used to identify you personally.
Advertising measurement. I sometimes run ads for the book through Google Ads. A Google tag measures whether those ads lead to visits and actions, like reading the free sample, so I can tell whether the advertising is worth it. This also uses cookies.
Server logs. Like most websites, the web host records standard technical information such as IP addresses and browser type, for security and reliability.
If you email me. The site has no sign-up forms. If you contact me through an email link, for example to ask about a speaking engagement, I receive the message and email address you send, and I use it only to reply to you.
The quiz and the Reset. The quiz works entirely in your own browser to show you a result. Your answers are not stored, sent to me, or saved anywhere. The Reset is simply pages you read. It does not track your progress or collect anything.
Cookies and how to opt out
The cookies on this site come from Google Analytics and Google Ads. You can:
- Adjust or block cookies in your browser settings.
- Install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
- Manage ad personalization in your Google Account’s ad settings.
Blocking these cookies will not affect your ability to read anything on the site.
Outbound links and other services
The site links out to services that have their own privacy practices, which I don’t control:
- Amazon, where the book is sold.
- None For Me, my newsletter on Substack, and my social profiles.
- The organizations listed in the Recovery Menu, which are independent.
- Fonts loaded from Adobe Fonts and Google Fonts, which may log the request.
Some outbound links may be affiliate links, which means I could earn a small commission if you buy through them, at no additional cost to you.
Your choices
I don’t sell or rent personal information, and I don’t use this site to build a marketing list. Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access or delete information held about you. Because almost all of the data here is handled by Google on my behalf, you can also use Google’s own privacy controls. For any question or request, email me at soberfounder@gmail.com.
Children
This site is intended for adults and is not directed at children under 16.
Changes
I may update this policy as the site changes. The “last updated” date above will always reflect the current version.
