Yoga of 12-Step Recovery (Y12SR)

Yoga + 12-step program · Somatic (yoga) plus 12-step · Online & in person

Yoga of 12-Step Recovery connects the somatic practice of yoga with the cognitive tools of recovery. Each meeting pairs a sharing circle with a gentle, recovery-themed yoga class.

Overview

Founded by Nikki Myers, Y12SR is a relapse-prevention model that treats addiction as a physical, mental, and spiritual issue, and is open to anyone affected by their own or a loved one's addictive behavior.

How the approach works

A typical meeting is a 45-minute 12-step-based sharing circle followed by a 45-minute recovery-themed yoga and meditation practice, led by a certified Y12SR guide.

Who might find it useful

People who process better through the body than through talk alone, and anyone drawn to yoga and meditation as part of recovery.

What to expect

Donation-based meetings held at yoga studios and community spaces, with online options too. Find one through the directory on their site.
